So you’ve just welcomed baby number two & after spending the last 9 months browsing all of the adorable sibling outfits – it’s finally time to have some photos taken of your beautiful family of four.
But, wait a minute…
What if your toddler has other ideas, & your expectation of a flawless family shoot that flows seamlessly with smiles all round is slipping further & further from view!
The reality is that a photo shoot with a toddler will be very unpredictable, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. Let’s take a look at a few ways we can work together to ensure your newborn family shoot is less stress & more sibling adorableness:
1. Let them lead – Forcing your toddler to be in a photo never ends well. Whether at home or in the studio, curiosity should (at some point during our time) get the better of them & they will come & see what all the fuss is about. If they are choosing to be involved their smiles will be more natural & you will all look & feel more relaxed.

2. Focus on what you can control – The newborn in your arms is happy to have their photo taken so lets keep the focus on them. It doesn’t matter what your toddler is getting up to behind the scenes, giving your energy to an unwilling toddler is only going to leave you feeling grumpy & stressed!

3. Catch them when we can – If your toddler is ready to be the perfect model from the get go then we can start with the sibling shots. If they are feeling shy then we can wait for them to warm up, and if they’re running hot & cold (as we know they do) then we can just grab them for quick captures at points throughout our time.

4. Treats and tricks – I always have a few treats and tricks that will more often than not help to capture these all important sibling moments.
However your toddler shows up to our session, I’ll be there to capture those super-cute, completely Instagramable shots as and when they happen (& maybe a couple of hilarious outtakes too)!
