Even before I officially set up Robin & Rose photography almost two years ago, I was dreaming of one day having my own photo studio. I knew after having Robyn that I wanted to shoot less weddings and start specialising in baby and family photography, and I felt that I needed a studio space to do this.
I was on right move one day (a favourite pastime of mine!) searching for possible studio spaces and imagining what I may one day be able to achieve, when I came across a commercial building that was up for sale. My parents at the time were looking for an investment property and I sent a message to my Dad (half jokingly, half not!) saying ‘Want to invest in an office?! Could make a good photo studio!’
After viewing the property and deciding it was indeed a good investment, they put in an offer, and the building (with existing tenants) became my parents.
Meanwhile I knew I had a lot of learning and growing to do before I was in the position to be able to invest in a studio. So, I set up a space in my home and started working from there. It worked really well for me, and I was able to welcome lots of lovely families into my home. I learnt, I improved, and my business grew.
Fast forward to November 2023 and the tenants who were at my parents’ property moved out and the space became available. My business had really picked up by this point and I felt that I was now in the position to invest in a studio, and this was too good an opportunity to pass up.
It felt like everything had just lined up, like it was meant to be. The building needed a lot of work, but I had a vision, and a lot of help to turn it into my dream studio and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out.
So now I get to welcome you to my new luxury photo studio! Based in Kirk Deighton, just north of Wetherby it’s just off the A1(M) with easy access from, Leeds, York & Harrogate.
